A few good reasons to get hitched in the month of December.

Alright folks it's extremely cold outside not to mention it's also been snowing non stop since yesterday evening here in Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia. Let's toast to all of the upcoming December Bride's with a few reasons why choosing a colder month, such as December for your nuptials may be a wonderful idea.

#1 - You'll save money........anywhere from 20% to 50% off on wedding related expenses, such as venue, vendors, and other service providers.

#2 - Endless decor and theme ideas not associated with Christmas. When it's cold outside it's a good time to be close, snuggle,............"Think Romance" and tie in the colors of red, burgundy, green, and winter white.

#3 - Th natural beauty of the season. For example imagine your pictures with backdrops of snow covered branches, or a light dusting of snow as you pose outside the church for family/bridal party photos.

#4 - Save on vacation time. A lot of people take time off anyway for the holidays.

#5 - Less crowded on your honeymoon if you go to the Caribbean, or some other sunny destination. There will be less crowds and you still will have the chance to wear your swim suit and flip flops while reading a book on the beach.

Preston Bailey is absolutely the best!

While checking in with one of my favorite design expert's, Mr. Preston Bailey via his blog today. I came across a post with pictures of a room he transformed for a client at The St. Regis Hotel in NY. The first pictures shows the room before transformation. The second shows the room after transformation. Preston Baily you are absolutely marvelous! Creativity at it's best! Now what does a planner have to do to get my client's to allow me to work my magic to recreate and transform their venue the Uniquely Designed Affairs way!?????

A FEW TIPS ON HOW TO GO GREEN FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY

Here's a good book to get you started:

Below are a few tips to follow:
  • Send out eco-friendly invitations, or use an evite/emailed invitation.
  • Donate left over food from your reception to a local homeless shelter.
  • Provide edible favors for your guest, such as organic fruit, or truffles made from organic ingredients.
  • Limit the amount of driving your guests will do by utilizing limousines, or shuttle buses.
  • In lieu of gifts ask guest to donate money to your favorite charity.

Are your deposits and payments to vendors refundable?

Well the answer to that question is written in the details of the contract that you sign when you decide to hire a vendor. Although there may be a clause that will give you a portion of your money back if you decide to cancel, or call off your wedding. What type of protection do you have if a vendor goes out of business, or fails to show up as promised? Not to mention what do you do in the event of inclement weather, or if you or your fiance' are suddenly rushed to the hospital for an illness. Wedding Insurance policies are gaining more popularity and will protect your investment for just a little over one hundred dollars. Take a look at the site www.wedsafe.com for more details.

It's snowing outside...How about a Destination Wedding?

How does Mexico sound right about now? Destination Weddings are gaining popularity due to the fact that it's much easier on the budget than throwing a lavish event with 300 guest. I've compiled some pictures of a location in Playa Del Carmen that I had the opportunity to visit last summer. So come on pack your bags and let's head for the islands.
